Female team from Louisville Water Co. heads to national competition​

Four women from the Louisville Water Co., in Kentucky will take part in a national competition in Chicago this July in which the team will have to connect pipe in roughly two minutes to succeed.

The municipal services team regularly connects water to new homes, but typically requires a couple of hours to do the job in the field.

are a part of the municipal services' women's tapping team -- they race against the clock to connect a copper pipe to a water main. Doing so, which the company does every day for new homes, usually takes two hours. But in a national women's tapping competition this July in Chicago, these women will have to connect the two pipes in roughly two minutes if they are to prevail.

Team members did a practice run in front of about 20 company employees recently. Their time: two minutes and 45 seconds. However, the week before they did it in two minutes and four seconds, which was 31 seconds faster than last year's winning time.
