Healthy Buildings becomes first licensed BREEAM USA assessor organization
Healthy Buildings is now officially the first licensed BREEAM USA In-Use Assessor Organization in the United States. For over 25 years, BREEAM has been a global leader in developing a strategic framework for sustainability assessments of the built environment. BREEAM stands for “the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology.” Based on the widely used BREEAM international standard, which is available in over 70 countries, BREEAM USA In-Use is open to all existing commercial buildings, regardless of size, age, or condition.
“We are excited to be partnering with such an innovative company as Healthy Buildings to train the first group of BREEAM USA assessors,” said BRE America CEO Barry Giles. “With more than 35 years’ experience in the green building and sustainability field, they were an obvious choice as an inaugural provider of BREEAM USA assessment. Their history of excellence conducting thousands of evaluations across the globe speaks volumes; we look forward to many more years of productive partnership between our teams.”
Healthy Buildings, an environmental consulting firm, became the first BREEAM In-Use assessors in the United States after completing training provided from BREEAM and completing a comprehensive certification process. Healthy Buildings is currently assessing The BLOC office tower in downtown Los Angeles to become the first BREEAM USA certified project in the United States.
“The goals of BREEAM USA align perfectly with our company’s core purpose,” said Healthy Buildings’ CEO Simon Turner. “We aim to make buildings and the organizations that run them more valuable. With lower barriers to entry than other sustainability certifications, BREEAM USA allows any building to begin their journey towards sustainability without the stringent prerequisites of other certifications.”
